Have you ever seen the Victoria's Secret models in one of their swimsuit spreads? Yes, you have. I know, I ask myself this all the time, "How do they look that great on the beach with their skin so flawless and bronzed?" Well, I believe that thanks to photo editing and lots of make-up artist expertise, they can look that good. Pssst! Guess what? Yeah, you can too! This isn't an exact replica of what they look like, I am not claiming I am one of them or that I am an expert at make-up but hey, a girl can dream right?
Step Two: Apply your favorite BB Cream (Beauty Balm). Make sure it has at least an SPF of 15 so that your skin is kept safe from the harsh rays. Mine is by Revlon and its called Photo Ready (for those pics you KNOW are gonna be taken). BB cream is a great thing, they have many benefits that are nourishing for your face. They do seem to be oily so if you already have oily skin, I recommend Garnier's BB cream for oily skin.
This look is so easy and took me only TEN MINUTES. I used very few products because when we go to the beach, we want to look good but not with tons of make-up on. Okay, so lets get started.
Step One: Moisturize your face with your favorite moisturizer. I used one by Clean and Clear. Mine has salicylic acid so it helps prevent my acne from getting worse and works towards preventing it too!
Step Three: If you are like me, you have scars and dark spots from previous mishaps in the skin department. Apply your favorite concealer, but make sure you don't cake it on, it's not going to help you in looking "au natural". The main zones I applied mine to were around my nose, a quick swipe under my eyes and around my chin.
Step Four: Bronze your face on your cheeks, around your jaw and up to your temples. Don't bronze everywhere, it won't translate as natural, you want to look sun-kissed. I used Rimmel bronzer.
Step Five: Blush-y Blush. To look youthful and dewy, use a light pink blush. You can even use a cream one if you're worried powder blushes will fade on you. Start at the apples of your cheeks and work your way towards your ears but slowly fading it out. Try not to use too much! Again; blend, blend, blend.
Step Six: Apply an eye-shadow primer all over your lids up to your brow. This will keep your shadow in place and it won't crease. My favorite primers are Sonia Kashuk and Too Faced.
Step Seven: The best part, eye shadow (at least for me personally). I used Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette but you can use any colors similar. I have many other palettes from drugstores that have the same colors so feel free to use those too!
- Take Booty Call (or a shimmery light color) and apply it just under your brow as a highlight.
- Use Tease (a mauve or light brown) and dust it all over your lid.
- Using a crease brush (a fluffy one with a domed top) work your bronzer into your crease. Then, Snakebite or a brown color into your crease. concentrate the color on the outer part of your crease and lightly blend it into the inner crease. Then use the left over on your brush to pat it on the outer corners on your lid. This will give you that smokey feel to the eyes.
- Take Half Baked mixed with Chopper and dust that just above where you put the crease color just on the outer half, but be sure not to cover up the highlighted brow bone. This will bronze the eyes up.
-Then, take your index finger and use Half Baked on the very inner corner of your eye near your cornea and bring it down to the bottom as well.
- Lastly, curl your lashes and apply two coats of waterproof mascara. I used Maybelline Cat Eye.
*Optional Steps* Eyeliner and Lip stain. I did not use eyeliner for this look because I used a pink lip stain, but it is completely up to you. If you want a more dramatic look, go for both! Either way it'll look great!
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it really is very easy and everyone looks great with it on! Trust me! Make-up or no make-up, you all have what it takes to be a VS model!
Lights, Camera, ACTION!
