Pushing Daisies

Good Evening All,

Since reading The Great Gatsby, I have loved Daisy Buchanan. After seeing the movie, I was reminded of how great my love was for Daisy; played by Carey Mulligan. So, today I decided in order to "complete" my last few "vintage" posts, I would inhabit Daisy as a whole and try to feel just as she felt. Of course, I never lived during the 1920's (unfortunately) so I do not own any clothing from that era, but I chose the pieces that would resemble the style. What I love about the 20's is the elegance and extravagancy of it all. Dresses had little shape to them, most of them "drop-waist" but were heavily embellished. It looks like such a beautiful decade, doesn't it? Most of the outfits are either my mother's or my Nana Jan's. God bless them for wonderful taste.

Once again, my sister Molly is responsible for taking these pictures and I did my own hair and make-up! Also, to accompany each outfit, I chose a quote from the book itself to bring it to life. I hope you enjoy :)

“Her face was sad and lovely with bright things in it, bright eyes and a bright passionate mouth, but there was an excitement in her voice..."

Silver and Black embellished dress; unknown designer.

“I hope she'll be a fool -- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.”

Black sequined evening gown; unknown designer.

“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”

Black trousers; Jones New York. Pink Tie blouse; Fovever 21. Black Silk gloves; unknown designer. Black bucket hat; Urban Outfitters.

“I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.”

Lace nightgown set; unknown designer.

“Reserving judgements is a matter of infinite hope.”

Mink fur coat; Bill Blass Fur.

“There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired.”

White sequined shirt; Papell Boutique. Black trousers; Jones New York.

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

Black evening gown with white accents; Jessica McClintock.

"When I first met her, I knew in a moment I would have to spend the next few days re-arranging my mind so there would be room for her to stay."

Ivory evening gown; Ralph Lauren.

I hope you liked my take on Daisy Buchanan! Thank you so much for reading and I'll see you soon!

Greyfully Yours,
