The House of Findings

Welcome to When Grey Skies Are You!

There are some exciting things to be shared tonight on the blog! Last week Julia, my best friend Katherine and I got dressed up for a trip over to the Liberty Hotel in Boston for the "Fashionably Late" fashion show starring "The House of Findings." Now, for those of you who need a refresher, I met Mayra and her husband at the SoWa vintage market a few weeks ago in South Boston. They had a booth set up and I purchased my Halloween costume there! They have such great things! Mayra told me about her fashion show and so when the night came around we were all very excited! The theme was "Through the Decades" and they even set up a mini pop-up shop for the guests who came and wanted to catch a look at some off the runway looks. Swarms of women were bustling around this busy hotel clad in vintage wear and statement outfits.

The Liberty Hotel is a very cool venue and has an awesome atmosphere. It formally was an old jail and they even kept some of the jail cell bars around to make for cool details! We had the chance to a peek backstage and hang out with the models while they were fitted and in hair and make-up!

Take a look at a couple of the shots we took before the show started!

The models had several adorable looks throughout the show, but here's a few to give you a feel of the "love for vintage" that was displayed that evening.

Now, we are very proud to present to you our video of the fashion show! These are just little clips of the show and what we saw! Hope you enjoy!!

Pre-show, we explored the hotel and decided to take some pictures of the outfits Katherine and I wore to the event. For my outfit I chose this vintage off the shoulder, fit-and-flare black dress that actually used to be my mom's! I paired it with plain black tights and Nine West classic pumps. I also picked out my favorite patent leather skinny belt to cinch my waist even more.

I really wanted to draw attention to my hair and makeup since my outfit was pretty simple. For the hair I went with a braided up-do with a couple of loose curls in the front. As for my make-up I kept my skin very glow-y with bold brows, a brown and rose gold smokey eye and a reddish mauve lip. I also wore a rose gold flower ear cuff and used my light pink Steve Madden cross body as an oversized clutch.

For Katherine's sophisticated look she chose a white body-con dress paired with a boyfriend black blazer. She then chose black tights and also her black Jeffrey Campbell's. Her hair was blown out straight for an effortless look and her makeup was very natural with a natural smokey eye, structured brow and the same lip color as I was wearing.

Lastly, we did a little friend photo shoot, check out a couple of these!

This night was so fun and it was great to spend it with two of my best friends!! They were such a big help and it was awesome to share this with them! We loved the clothes, the high energy and the vibe of this show. Thank you to The House of Findings for allowing us to be there and for giving us the opportunity to have press access! Also, I'd like to thank Julia Paige for being the best gal and doing the photography! A great night to remember for the love of vintage!!
